About Jeurney
❓ What is jeurney.com?
❗ jeurney.com is a peer-to-peer rental marketplace for stays and spaces—similar to Airbnb or Vrbo, but built differently. We prioritise fairness, affordability, and digital independence. Our platform uses non-US technologies wherever possible to reduce dependence on Big Tech, while offering a simple and respectful way to book or host.
❓ How is jeurney.com different from other platforms?
❗ Lower fees for both hosts and guests. Independent tech choices that prioritise privacy and autonomy. Community-first values—no surprise costs, no extractive business model. We believe travel should empower local economies, not exploit them.
❓ What’s with the name? Can’t you spell?
❗ jeurney.com is a play on the joy of the journey and our European anchoring. Hence, jEURney.com.
❓ Why are you using non-US technologies?
❗ We believe in digital sovereignty. Many current platforms are tightly integrated with or owned by US-based Big Tech. By building on independent, non-US alternatives where we can, we offer a platform that respects user autonomy, local data laws, and innovation.

❗ We will initially focus on the EU countries plus a few additional countries, primarily within Europe.

❓ How do I delete my account?
❗ We're sorry to see you go — but we want to make the process simple and respectful.
To delete your account, just head to the contact form on our website and select "Request account deletion" from the dropdown menu. Once we receive your request, we’ll send you an email to confirm that you’d like your account removed.
As soon as we receive your confirmation, we’ll delete your account and any associated personal data in accordance with our privacy policy and GDPR requirements.
If there’s anything we can do to improve your experience or change your mind before you go, we’re always open to feedback.
Pricing, Fees and Payments
❓ Will jeurney.com really be cheaper?
❗ Yes. We’ll charge fair, transparent fees—significantly lower than most major platforms. Because we’re not VC-backed or aiming to dominate the market, we can focus on building a sustainable, community-driven service instead.
❓ How much will you charge and what does it cover?
❗ We intend to charge a 10% commission to the host, with absolutely no hidden fees at all. All payment charges to guests and payout charges to hosts, platform charges, service fees etc., which can be significant, are included in the commission. Guests will be charged no fees for using jeurney. Both hosts and guests may be subject to charges that are beyond our control. This could be charges from their own bank, or fees from our payment provider for currency conversions if not using Euros (EUR).
❓ Will the commission increase when the platform grows?
❗ No — that’s not the plan. One of the core reasons we built Jeurney was to offer fairer terms and lower fees than what’s become standard in the industry. Our goal is to keep fees low and transparent, so that more of the value created by hosting stays with the people doing the hosting. Growth shouldn’t come at the expense of those who made it possible.
❓ Why is there a minimum daily rate, and how much is it?
❗ Payment and payout processing carry significant fees for us, and we need to impose a minimum daily rate to ensure that the commission is sufficient to cover these costs. For that reason, the minimum daily listing rate is set at 49€.
❓ Why can I only book 90 days in advance?
❗ Because the payment provider makes the reservation immediately on the guest's credit card upon reservation and these reservations can only be held for 90 days. A later version will provide more flexibility with this to allow bookings for later dates.
Hosting on Jeurney
❓ Can I become a host?
❗ Yes! If you are a resident of one of the countries we operate in, you can sign up right away. If you have a space to share—whether it’s a flat, house, cabin, studio, or something unique—we’d love to have you on board. Listing is simple, free of charge, and you’ll always stay in control of your space and pricing.
❓ As a host, will it be easy for me to switch from my current platform to Jeurney?
❗ We’re working on making that process as easy as possible. Right now, you can manually recreate your listing on Jeurney — and we’ve designed the listing process to be simple and quick. In the future, we plan to offer tools to help you import reviews and profile details from other platforms. If you’re ready to make the move now, we’d love to have you — and we’re here to help if you have questions along the way.
❓ I have good reviews on another rental site. What should I do?
❗ That’s great — and we don’t think you should have to start from scratch. Right now, you can mention or link to your reviews in your Jeurney listing description, or share them with guests directly once they’ve booked. We’re also working on a migration feature that will allow you to bring over your existing reviews and profile history from other platforms. This will make it easier for you to establish trust from day one.
❓ As a host, can I add a cleaning fee?
❗ Not yet — but it’s high on our roadmap. We know cleaning fees are important for many hosts, and we plan to support this as part of a broader update to pricing options soon.
❓ As a host, can I charge a fee based on the number of guests?
❗ Currently, we don’t support guest-based pricing — but it’s part of the broader “fees and pricing flexibility” functionality that we plan to roll out. When we do introduce support for fees, this will likely be included.
❓ Can I set a minimum stay period?
❗ Our platform doesn’t support minimum stay settings yet. For now, you can mention your minimum stay requirement in your listing description and decline bookings that don’t meet it. A more structured way to set this is on the way, and it’s something we know is important to get right.
❓ Can I require a deposit?
❗ Not at the moment. Right now, the full booking amount is paid (or reserved) by the guest at the time of booking. When we introduce features for bookings made far in advance — for example, more than 90 days ahead — we also plan to support deposits or partial payments.
❓ Can I set maximum occupancy on a listing?
❗ Yes, you can add a maximum occupancy to your listing, but please note: it’s not yet enforced by the booking system. That means a guest could technically book for more people than your stated limit — so as a host, it’s important to review each booking and decline any that don’t match your criteria. A proper occupancy check is on our roadmap and will be included in future platform updates.
❓ Can I, as a host, indicate whether the listing has Wi-Fi, TV, kitchen, sauna, etc.?
❗ Yes! Jeurney has a structured checklist of amenities that you can fill out when creating your listing. These details are not only shown on your listing page — they also help guests filter search results based on what they're looking for (like Wi-Fi, kitchen, or sauna). If you notice a checkbox or feature that’s missing, we’d love to hear from you. Just use the contact form on the site and choose "Suggest a feature" — it helps us improve faster.
❓ As a host, how can I see on which nights my listing is booked?
❗ At the moment, you can’t — but we know how important this is, and it’s coming soon. A clear calendar view of bookings is already on our roadmap. In the meantime, you’ll receive booking confirmation emails with dates and guest info, but we agree that a proper overview inside the platform is needed. It’s one of the next things we’re working on.
❓ As a host, can I upload a check-in guide?
❗ Not yet directly on the platform. In the meantime, we recommend uploading your check-in guide to a cloud service (preferably a European provider) and sharing the link with your guest before their stay. You can also include a public link in your listing description — but remember, anything in the listing is visible to everyone.
❓ Can a host be from any country in the world?
❗ Not yet. We currently allow hosts from the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom
For Guests
❓ I am from "pick any country" – can I book with you?
❗ Yes! As long as you can register with a valid payment method, you're welcome. We allow guests from any country on the platform. It is of course up to the host to confirm the final acceptance of the booking.
❓ As a guest, how do I cancel my booking?
❗ To cancel a booking, first reach out to the host and agree on the cancellation terms. Once you’ve both agreed, contact the Jeurney team via the contact form on our website. We'll handle the cancellation and adjust the financials according to the host’s cancellation policy. We know this process should be smoother — and we’re working on adding a built-in cancellation feature soon.
❓ How do I leave a review?
❗ After the stay is completed, both the host and guest will be able to leave a review of their experience. The review system is already active — and we believe mutual feedback is a key part of building trust on the platform.
❓ Can I message a host or guest?
❗ Yes! Jeurney has a built-in messaging system that allows you to communicate securely within the platform. Simply click the “Contact” button on the host or guest’s profile to start the conversation.
Platform Features & Roadmap
❓ Why doesn’t Jeurney have all the features that other marketplaces have?
❗ We launched with a simple goal: to build something that works — not something that tries to do everything at once. The larger platforms have had 15–17 years to build their feature sets. We chose to launch early with core functionality and focus on adding the most relevant features based on feedback from our community. This approach helps us stay lean, responsive, and aligned with what our users actually need.
❓ Do you support different rates on different days?
❗ Not just yet. You can enter different prices manually, but guests currently have to select the appropriate rate. If they don’t, you can reject the booking. We know this isn’t ideal, and a proper calendar-based pricing tool is one of our top development priorities.
❓ I have an idea or feature request. What should I do?
❗ We’d love to hear from you! Use the contact form on our website to send us your suggestion. You can also check our roadmap to see if your idea is already in the works — and know that your input genuinely helps shape what we build next.
❓ Will you comply with the DAC7 directive, and how?
❗ Yes, Jeurney.com will comply with the DAC7 directive (EU Council Directive 2021/514), which requires digital platforms to report income earned by users — such as hosts — to the relevant tax authorities.
We are currently preparing the technical and administrative setup needed to meet these obligations. Once ready, Jeurney will: • Collect the required information from hosts (e.g. identity, address, tax details) • Report relevant income to the appropriate EU tax authority in accordance with DAC7 rules • Notify hosts in advance of any reporting that affects them
We’ll aim to make this process as smooth and transparent as possible — and we’ll share detailed guidance as the implementation approaches. As always, your privacy and data protection will remain a top priority.
❓ Will you sell the company when it gets big enough?
❗ That’s not why we’re doing this. Jeurney was started as an alternative to business models driven by exit strategies and external investors. We’re building slowly, sustainably, and independently — with the people who use the platform at the center. That said, we believe in being transparent: if that ever changed, we’d say so. But for now and the foreseeable future, we’re focused on building something worth keeping.
